ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vertically adjustable free-standing work station including a first pair of vertically oriented, free-standing, spaced rails mounted on feel which rest on the floor, a second pair of vertically oriented rails individually, slidably, interlockingly disposed in the first pair of rails, a pair of support brackets individually mounted on the second pair of rails, a work surface supported by the support brackets, a pair of interconnecting channels for respectively interconnecting the first and second pairs of rails and a drive mechanism coupled between the interconnecting channels to move the channels toward or away from each other so as to attendantly displace the work surface.
