AUTOMATICALLY ARRESTABLE CURTAIN TYPE ROUTE INDICATOR ABSTRACT A curtain and roller destination sign for display from a bus or the like vehicle is rotatable by an electric motor. Each name or number destination display segment of the curtain has a foil strip attached to its rear part to be sensed by a proximity switch which sends pulses so an electronic processor which counts and stores the count of the pulses provided by the moving curtain completing intermittently the signals from the proximity switch. A manually operated thumbwheel switch is connected to the processor to indicate by the numeral setting on it for comparison by the processor of the count from the proximity switch at the curtain. When the manually set switch setting corresponds to the count from the curtain the motor is stopped to arrest the curtain at the required setting and to thereby display the destination corresponding to the manual setting made on the thumbwheel switch.
