ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automatically operable watering device in the form of a tap for domesticated animals, especially for pigs, has a valve stem which automatically closes under spring action against a valve seat in a tap-shaped valve casing. An actuation lever acting on the free portion of the stem and mounted on the valve casing is movable by animal biting. A stopper has a valve seating body and is designed as an independent screw element with a thread portion of larger diameter. A cylinder piston slides in a bore of the valve casing, and the valve seating body carries a spacer in the region of the valve seat, The spacer is non-rotatably supported and is only axially displace- able in relation to the valve seating body. The spacer receives a sealing member.
