2064843 9119888 PCTABS00008 A method and device for rapid in situ rejuvenation of an automobile catalytic converter catalyst by oxidation are disclosed. The method comprises the injection of the oxidizing agent (6) into the automobile air stream at a point upstream of the catalytic converter (4) preferably into the intake manifold (1), and while the converter (4) is at operating temperature. The oxidizing agent (6) is preferably oxygen-enriched air or substantially purified oxygen. The device comprises an oxidizing agent supply and injection means.
