ABSTRACT: An automobile theft deterrent device simply comprises a self-contained housing with a diode presented at one end and including one or more batteries within the housing simply to operate the diode as a flashing light source. Around the housing is provided a rib for engaging into an opening with the dashboard surface of the vehicle. A collar at the end of the housing prevents the housing from being pushed fully through the opening in the dashboard surface. The flashing diode simulates the presence of an expensive alarm system thus providing a deterrent to the average thief.
