ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A moldable tufted carpet automobile mat, the molded mat and the process of preparing the mat, the moldable automo- bile mat comprising in combination: a tufted carpet having a tufted face surface and a back surface; a thin layer of a stiff, heat-moldable thermoplastic urethane resin having a thickness of up to about 1/8th of an inch, the layer bonded to the back sur- face of the carpet to secure the tufts to the carpet; and a thick layer of a flexible, cross-linked, thermoset, elastomeric, urethane resin secured to the stiff thermoplastic urethane resin layer, the elastomeric layer suitably having a thickness from about 1/8th of an inch to about 3/8th of an inch.
