An assembly for an automotive fuel filler door in which a gooseneck bracket connecting a fuel filler door to a body side hinge bracket comprises two elements having complementary interfacing portions slidable relative to each other over a common interfacing plane to a plurality of positions such that in an assembly step, the door and bracket may be located in desired relative positions by sliding the relevant elements to one of the plurality of positions in which position the two elements may be fixedly secured together, preferably, by a welding operation involving puddle welding or laser welding.
