Cet aérostat est du type comprenant un premier ballon fermé (1), dit porteur, destine à contenir un gaz plus léger que le gaz présent dans l'atmosphère, et une montgolfière solaire (3) comprenant une ouverture permanente (6) permettant son remplissage par le gaz présent dans l'atmosphère. Selon l'invention la montgolfière solaire (3) est dotée d'une extrémité supérieure ouverte délimitée par une bordure annulaire, et des moyens de fixation étanche sont adaptés pour solidariser cette bordure annulaire sur la paroi périphérique du ballon porteur (1), de façon que ledit ballon porteur s'étende partiellement à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe de la montgolfière (3).
