This mechanism makes a bicycle easier to pedal. It does not change the gear ratio. The multi-speed bicycle ready has that advantage. This drive works with any speed and it is gearless. Simply put, the crank arms fold. The way this mechanism functions is that the pedal arms fold as they are kept in position by connecting rods. One end is fastened to an anchor and the other end to the auxiliary pedal arm. The pedal arms are always kept in front of the crankshaft. This makes for less leg movement and is a more comfortable position. The connecting rods not only keep the pedals in position but they also pull in positions where it counts the most and assists in forward motion. If the pedal is pulled up, as in racing, then the rods push to assist in forward motion.
