ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An auxiliary step for use in an automobile or small truck is defined by a single metal rod which is bent to form a generally U-shaped body with sides and a lower crossbar, and a pair of L-shaped arms extending outwardly from the sides. The outer ends of the arms are pivotally mounted in brackets, which are connected to the floor of the automobile or truck immediately inside a door, so that the step can be rotated between a storage position against the seat to a use position in which the sides and crossbar are outside of the vehicle defining a step beneath the bottom of the door opening.
