An awning structure for a swing which has vertical members to support the awning structure overhead the swing. The awning structure comprises a pair of parallel elongated frame members adapted to be supported by the vertical members of the swing. The awning structure also comprises two opposite cross-members to interconnect the parallel elongated frame members so to form the awning structure, and a flexible cover sheet with two opposite edges each securable to a corresponding cross-member. At least one of the two cross-members is a hollowed extrusion which includes a longitudinal slit adapted to slidably received therein a corresponding edge of the flexible cover sheet, a screw-receiving element formed at opposite ends thereof, and a screw means for rotatably connecting each of the opposite ends of the extrusion to a corresponding elongated frame member whereby the rotation of the extrusion when one edge of the cover sheet is inserted in the slit causes the flexible cover sheet to wrap around the extrusion and to stretch out overhead the swing. The screw means is also for locking the extrusion when the flexible cover sheet is stretched out.
