ABSTRACT A conventional axe is normally used for splitting wood. Axe handles break when the axe head drives into the wood and the handle pivots down and impacts on the rim as the log. After one or more such impacts, the handle snaps at a point about 1 to 3 inches (25mm to 75mm) below the axe head. This invention redesigns the axe head by incorporating a projection below the usual axe head to shield the area which breaks.
