A B S T R A C T An axial blower having an impeller with adjustable vanes to convey gases containing corrosive constituents. The vanes are attached by means of bolts, which are passed from the interior of the impeller through a flange of the shank in the root of the vane for improving the corrosion protection. Sealing rings are provided between the root of the vane and the impeller and are pre-tensioned by spring elements. The pre-tension is such that, on displacements in the region of the sealing rings, there is only a negligible change in the pre-tensioned force against the sealing surface.
