An axial face seal assembly is disclosed, and arranged for co-rotation with a drive shaft in a rotary machine. The seal assembly comprises a seal member (1) which is seated in a carrier (4) to present a sealing end face (2), the carrier being non--rotatably connected to a base member (6) but movable axially thereto and biased from the base member by means of a compression spring (5) which is interposed between the base member and the carrier, the base member being axially and non- rotatably securable to a drive shaft by means of an open ring clamp (7) having first end second ends (17; 18). The ring clamp is supported on the base member, at least one of said first and second ends (17; 18) being movable relative to the other end in a circumferential direction; and wherein tightening means (8) is rotatably journalled on the base member for adjusting the relative distance between the first and second ends of the ring clamp. A mounting fixture (9) is likewise disclosed and cooperating with the seal assembly in a mounting procedure requiring axial access only to the seal assembly.
Linvention concerne un ensemble joint à face axiale conçu pour une corotation avec un arbre dentraînement dans une machine rotative. Lensemble joint comprend un organe formant joint (1) qui est assis dans un support (4) pour présenter une face dextrémité dassise (2), le support étant raccordé de façon non rotative à un organe de base (6), mais mobile axialement par rapport à celui-ci et sollicité à partir de lorgane de base au moyen dun ressort de compression (5) qui est interposé entre lorgane de base et le support, lorgane de base pouvant être fixé axialement et de manière non rotative à un arbre dentraînement au moyen dun étau à bague ouverte (7) ayant des première et seconde extrémités (17 ; 18). Létau à bague est supporté sur lorgane de base, ladite première extrémité et/ou ladite seconde extrémité (17 ; 18) étant mobiles par rapport à lautre extrémité dans une direction circonférentielle ; et où un moyen de serrage (8) est tourillonné avec faculté de rotation sur lorgane de base pour ajuster la distance relative entre la première et la seconde extrémité de létau à bague. Un dispositif de montage (9) est également divulgué et coopère avec lensemble joint dans une procédure de montage ne requérant un accès axial quà lensemble joint.
