An energy efficient axial fan for moving humid, corrosive and dusty air comprises a housing with an inlet opening and an outlet opening, a fan assembly comprising a drive motor and a propeller coupled thereto. The inlet opening comprises a bell mouth and the outlet opening comprises a shutter assembly comprising a master operative door and at least a slave door vertically extending. The doors are open by the air of the fan and closed by a spring associated with a centrifugal device secured to the propeller and rotating therewith. The propeller comprises a plurality of radial blades entirely surrounded by a duct extending in an axial direction perpendicular to the radial blades so as to encircle the tips of the blades and forming a radial clearance between the interior of the fan housing and the propeller duct for reducing noise level and recirculating air flow. Further the propeller blades are provided with guiding fins for enhancing air flow
