A conveyor roller (12) includes at least one axle cartridge (24) and is mounted at opposite sidewalls (14) of a conveyor (10). The axle cartridge includes a bearing assembly (28) at an outer end and an inner support (27) at an inner end. The bearing assembly provides rotational support of a roller portion (20) about an axle portion (22). The inner support is spaced from an inner end of the axle portion during normal use of the roller and may provide contact support at the axle portion in response to loading induced deflection of the roller, whereby the inner support limits flexing of the roller portion and may limit binding of the bearing assembly during such loading conditions. The axle portion may include one or more guide members (23) along a generally conical-shaped axle end (22d) for guiding the axle portion into a correspondingly formed opening in the conveyor sidewall.
Selon la présente invention, un cylindre de transporteur (12) comprend au moins une cartouche d'axe (24) et il est monté aux parois latérales opposées (14) d'un transporteur (10). Ladite cartouche d'axe comporte un ensemble de support (28) au niveau d'une extrémité externe (28) et un support interne (27) au niveau d'une extrémité interne. Cet ensemble de support engendre un support rotatif d'une partie de cylindre (20) autour d'une partie d'axe (22). Ledit support interne est séparé d'une extrémité interne de la partie d'axe, pendant l'utilisation normale du cylindre et il peut générer un support de contact au niveau de la partie d'axe en réponse à la déviation du cylindre induite par le chargement, ledit support interne limitant la flexion de la partie du cylindre et pouvant limiter la fixation de l'ensemble de support, durant de telles conditions de chargement. La partie d'axe peut comprendre au moins un élément de guidage (23) le long d'une extrémité d'axe généralement de forme conique (22d) de manière à guider la partie d'axe dans une ouverture formée dans la paroi latérale du transporteur.
