A wheel end assembly (10) is provided that allows venting of pressurized air from a chamber (40) defined by the hubcap (20), but prevents entry of contaminants into the chamber. The wheel end assembly includes a hubcap that is configured to be coupled to a wheel and defines a chamber (40) for retaining lubricant for wheel bearings for the wheel. One wall of the hubcap has an aperture (42) in fluid communication with the chamber (40) and a plug (22) is disposed within the aperture. The plug (22) defines a valve for releasing pressurized air from the chamber. The assembly finally includes a cap (24) that is supported on the body of the plug (22) and extends in an outboard direction. The cap (24) is disposed over an outlet (46) of the valve and defines a first fluid chamber (68) in fluid communication with both the outlet (46) of the valve and ambient air. The cap and plug can be inserted into and removed from the aperture as a unit.
La présente invention a trait à un ensemble d'extrémité de roue permettant la ventilation d'air sous pression en provenance d'une chambre définie par l'enjoliveur, mais interdisant la pénétration de contaminants dans la chambre. L'ensemble d'extrémité de roue comporte un enjoliveur qui est conformé pour être relié à une roue et définit une chambre de rétention de lubrifiant pour des roulements de roue de la roue. Une paroi de l'enjoliveur présente une ouverture en communication fluidique avec la chambre et un bouchon est disposé dans l'ouverture. Le bouchon définit une soupape pour la libération d'air sous pression en provenance de la chambre.
