A B S T R A C T Axle suspension for vehicles, particularly heavy and special vehicles, characterized by an axle - chassis connection by means of two telescopic assemblies (2, 6, 20, 21, 24, 87) substantially comprising a telescopic cylinder (6, 95) and a telescopic tube (2, 23, 43, 54, 91) displaceable therein with a working piston (20, 44, 55, 82) on one end and an articulated connection (3) on the other end, in which the telescopic cylinder (6, 95), as a mounting tube is fixedly connected to chassis (5) and the tele- scopic tube (2, 23, 43, 54, 91) is connected in articulated manner to axle (4), in such a way that the axle is pivotable at right angles to the vehicle, but is not rotatable about the actual axle line. The telescopic assemblies guiding the axle (4) have means (21, 46, 58, 64, 83, 88) for the suspension of the vehicle, as well as means (22', 47, 59, 93, 42, 52, 92) for the vertical adjustment and level compensation of the vehicle.
