ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An axle for vehicles having a built-in electric brake and including a differential group housing having a ring gear is disclosed. Two drive pinions having axially aligned axles mesh at diametrically opposite points with the ring gear and carry braking flywheels. A like number of coil-bearing plates for actuating the braking flywheels are attached to the differential group housing. Alternate differential housing structures are disclosed with which the inventive axle may be used.
