Abstract There are described novel azo compounds of the formula I Image (I) wherein R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group, X is CN or the SO2-alkyl(C1-C4) group, and R2 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted (C1-C8)-alkyl group, processes for producing them, and their use as dyes for dyeing and printing textile materials which are dyeable with disperse dyes, particularly polyester materials, with greenish-yellow dyeings having good fastness to light and to sublimation being obtained.
