Disclosed is an azole derivative represented by the general formula (1): (see formula 1) [wherein R1 is phenyl which may have 1-3 lower alkoxy substituents, phenyl having a lower alkylenedioxy substituent or the like; R2 is hydrogen, phenyl, halogen, lower alkoxycarbonyl, lower alkyl, amino-lower alkyl which may have lower substituent, dihydrocarbostyril or the like; R3 is a group of the formula: (see formula 2) (in which R4B is hydroxyl, carboxyl, lower alkenyl or lower alkyl, m is 0, 1 or 2); X is S or O] or a salt thereof, useful as a superoxide radical inhibitor.
