ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to a process for combatting fungi on plants, wherein the plants or their loci are treated with a fungicidally effective amount of a .beta.-imidazolyl alcohol of the formula Image where R1 denotes fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or methoxy and R2, R3 and R4 denote hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, or a salt thereof.
