18 ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Method and apparatus for controlling hack tension of wire or filament being paid off a bobbin through the use of a pendulum potentiometer, in combination with a dancer arm assembly, to sense the back tension of the system and to increase or decrease the speed of a direct current regenerative motor used to drive the bobbin and thereby maintain a proper preset back tension.
