The present invention refers to a fuel cell electric generator specifically designed for back-up in the absence of network electricity supply. According to the invention, the generator comprises a fuel cell stack, means for supplying the stack with a first and a second reagent flow comprising, in turn, pressure reducing means, and a manifold body to communicate with the stack said first and second reagent flows and at least a flow of coolant fluid via a respective coolant loop. The manifold body comprises on the inside chambers for the mixing of said reagent flows with corresponding re-circulated product flows and a coolant fluid expansion chamber within which said pressure reducing means of said first and second reagent flows are positioned at least partially drowned by said coolant. The invention further refers to methods for the start- up and shut-down of the generator, a method for detecting the flooding of a fuel cell and a method for detecting the presence of gas leakages in the generator.
L'invention concerne un générateur électrique pour pile à combustible, conçu spécifiquement pour constituer une réserve en l'absence d'alimentation électrique de réseau. Le générateur selon l'invention comprend un empilement de piles à combustible, des moyens d'acheminement vers l'empilement d'un premier et d'un deuxième flux de réactif comprenant à leur tour des moyens réducteurs de pression, ainsi qu'un corps de collecteur destiné à mettre l'empilement en communication avec les premier et deuxième flux de réactif et au moins un flux de fluide de refroidissement par l'intermédiaire d'un circuit de refroidissement respectif. Le corps de collecteur est constitué de chambres intérieures destinées au mélange des flux de réactif avec des flux de produit re-circulé correspondants, et d'une chambre de dilatation de fluide de refroidissement dans laquelle sont disposés, au moins partiellement submergés par le fluide de refroidissement, les moyens réducteurs de pression des premier et deuxième flux de réactif. L'invention concerne également des procédés de démarrage et d'arrêt du générateur, un procédé de détection de noyage de pile à combustible et un procédé de détection de fuites de gaz dans le générateur.
