The invention provides a backing (125) for an abrasive article comprising a sheet-like polymeric substrate having a first major surface (126) including a pattern of non-abrasive raised areas and depressed areas and an opposite second major surface (127) including a plurality of shaped engaging elements (22, 28) that are one part of a two-part mechanical engagement system. An abrasive product (50) is provided by coating at least the raised areas (63) of the backing (29) with an abrasive coating (62).

La présente invention concerne un support (125) d'article abrasif comprenant un substrat de type feuille possédant une première surface principale (126) comprenant une configuration de zones en relief et de zones en creux non abrasives et une seconde surface principale (127) opposée comprenant une pluralité d'éléments (22, 28) en forme s'emboîtant qui sont une partie d'un système d'emboîtement mécanique en deux parties. On obtient un produit abrasif (50) en revêtant au moins les zones en relief (63)du support avec un revêtement abrasif (62).
