The present invention relates to the use of a polypeptide having a proliferation inhibitory activity or a cell death inducing activity on animal cells. The invention provides further means and methods to use said polypeptide and the corresponding nucleic acids sequence containing the coding regions of said polypeptide. The invention further relates to vectors expressing said polypeptide, to pharmaceutical compositions and therapeutic methods for treating proliferative disorders or diseases like cancer. Last but not least the invention provides a method for a gene therapeutic approach using said polypeptide having a proliferation inhibitory activity or a cell death inducing activity on animal cells.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un polypeptide qui exerce sur les cellules animales une activité inhibitrice de la prolifération ou une activité induisant la mort cellulaire. L'invention porte en outre sur des moyens et des procédés d'utilisation dudit polypeptide et de la séquence nucléotidique correspondante contenant les régions codantes dudit polypeptide. L'invention se rapporte aussi à des vecteurs exprimant ledit polypeptide, à des compositions pharmaceutiques et à des procédés thérapeutiques permettant de traiter des troubles prolifératifs ou des maladies comme la cancer. Enfin, l'invention concerne un procédé d'approche thérapeutique génique faisant appel au polypeptide précité qui exerce sur les cellules animales une activité inhibitrice de la prolifération ou une activité induisant la mort cellulaire.
