A bacteriostatic filter cartridge (10) having a porous core member about which is layered a yarn (18) and/or a polyester membrane (24) and/or melt blown web of polypropylene and/or a trilaminated polypropylene membrane, any or all of which may be impregnated with an antimicrobial agent. The filter cartridge is sized so as to fit tightly into a cartridge housing of a fluid filtration system. Fluid passing through the cartridge housing will be filtered by the filter cartridge to remove contaminants from the water and which prevents the growth of bacterial and other microorganisms on the filter media.

Cette invention se rapporte à une cartouche de filtre bactériostatique (10) comprenant un élément central poreux autour duquel est disposée en couches une structure tissée (18) et/ou une membrane de polyester (24) et/ou une bande de polypropylène produite par fusion-soufflage et/ou une membrane de polypropylène à trois couches, certaines ou la totalité de ces structures étant imprégnées d'un agent antimicrobien. Cette cartouche de filtre est dimensionnée de façon à s'adapter étroitement dans un logement à cartouche d'un système de filtrage de fluides. Le fluide passant à travers ce logement de cartouche va être filtré par la cartouche de filtre, pour éliminer les contaminants contenus dans l'eau et pour empêcher la croissance des bactéries et de tout autre micro-organisme sur les supports du filtre.
