An arrangement for baffle design in a washing appliance is described. The washing appliance includes an outer tub and a spinner for receiving material to be washed. The spinner is mounted at a slightly inclined axis, although the baffle configuration can also be used in a horizontal axis environment. At least two baffles are mounted spaced slightly from the front of the spinner and extend rearwardly to approximately the center of the appliance. A number of baffles are mounted abutting the rear of the appliance equal to the number of baffles mounted in the front of the appliance and extend frontwardly to approximately the center of the spinner. The rear baffles generally conform to a rounded shape along the rear wall of the spinner. The front and rear baffles are situated in a staggered arrangement, spaced equidistantly along the spinner wall.
