A vertical scroll compressor defining perpendicular axial and radial directions, comprises a housing having a suction port, a compression mechanism disposed within the housing and including a non-orbiting scroll having a first involute wrap and a suction inlet, and an orbiting scroll having a second involute wrap, a motor drivingly connected to the orbiting scroll, a crankcase including a thrust surface disposed at an axial thrust surface height, the orbiting scroll bearingly supported on the thrust surface, and a baffle member removably positioned on the crankcase and disposed radially between the thrust surface and the suction port. The baffle member has a body portion including an inclined surface disposed at least partially axially above the crankcase, the inclined surface facing a flow path of working fluid from the suction port to the suction inlet.
