Cone-type filter insert produced from a filter paper. The object of the invention is a cone-type filter insert (1) produced from a filter paper, the special characteristic of which filter insert consists in the fact that the permeability of the filter insert (1) is lower in the bottom region (6) than in the upper edge region (5) of the insert. The advantage achieved by this means is that a longer dwell and contact time of the brewing water with a flavor carrier is ensured, but at the same time an overflowing of the brewing water over the upper edge of the filter insert (1) is prevented by the fact that the permeability of the filter insert (1) in its upper edge region is reduced. Through the lengthened contact time a greater utilization of the flavor carrier is achieved, so that with otherwise equivalent conditions - the amount of flavor carrier used, on the one hand, and the amount of brewing water used, on the other hand - a brewed beverage of higher drinking strength is obtained.
