A support used with a breast pump and with a flexible bag adapted to be filled with breast milk, comprises a hollow body having opposed upper inlet and lower outlet ends adapted to be fluidly connected respectively to an outlet of the breast pump and to an inlet of the flexible bag, such that milk retrieved by the breast pump from a breast is conveyed by the breast pump through the support and directly into the flexible bag. The lower end is typically inserted in a mouth of the flexible bag which is then attached temporarily, that is until the bag has been filled with milk, to the support by way of an attachment system, such as a tie provided on the flexible and positioned around the lower end of the support, or of an elastic member positioned around the flexible for inwardly urging the same against the lower end. The lower end may define a flared edge, positioned downstream of the attachment system of the flexible bag, when the bag is attached to the support, for assisting in preventing the flexible bag from accidentally coming off the support. The support may also include a handle that extends from the hollow body for helping a user in holding the support, as well as a stand that is adapted to hold the hollow body at a distance above a support surface on which the stand rests, such that the bag hangs from the hollow body and above a base of the stand. The lower end of the hollow body may define a peripheral groove for receiving the attachment system of the flexible bag thereby assisting in preventing the flexible bag from accidentally coming off the support.
