BAIL TRIP MECHANISM FOR FISHING REEL ABSTRACT This invention comprehends a mechanism that automatically moves a fishing reel bail from the open casting position to the closed retrieving position. The bail is supported by a pair of bail arms which are pivotally-mounted on a rotor for movement of the bail between casting and retrieve positions. A first cam on the rotor and a second cam with a trip ramp on one of the bail arms coact with trip lever means extended between the cams. When the bail is in casting position, the trip lever means engages the trip ramp. When the rotor rotates, the trip lever means moves rapidly out of engagement with the trip ramp, as caused by the first cam, to unlock the bail and permit movement of the bail to the retrieve position.
