A bait station for crawling insects and method for presenting bait to targeted insects. The bait station (10) includes a base (12) and a cover fastened to the base. The base (12) includes a bait cup (16) with a bait cup wall. A side support extends upwardly above the level of the bait cup wall. The cover (14) includes a shell (30) that defines a walkway (34) between the shell wall (32) and the bait cup wall (20). The shell (30) also includes a roof (40) that spans the space encompassed by the shell wall (32), the roof (40) being supportable by the side support. An antechamber is defined on one side by the side support and on another side by the shell wall. The floor of the antechamber is continuous with the floor of the walkway. An antechamber door in the shell wall opens into the antechamber to admit targeted insects thereto and is so located that straight line access through the antechamber door to the bait cup is restricted by the side support. The antechamber is sufficiently wide from the side support to the shell wall as to provide room for a targeted insect to enter the bait station through the antechamber door and avoid the side support by entering the walkway, thus gaining access to any bait contained in the bait cup. The method of the invention includes providing such a bait station, containing a selected bait within the bait cup and placing the bait station on a surface where targeted insects crawl.
La présente invention concerne, d'une part un point d'appât pour insectes rampants, et d'autre part un procédé de présentation de l'appât à des insectes visés. Le point d'appât (10) comporte une base (12) et un couvercle fixé à la base. La base (12) comprend une coupelle d'appât (16) pourvue d'une paroi de coupelle d'appât. Un support latéral dépasse en hauteur au-dessus du niveau de la paroi de coupelle d'appât. Le couvercle (14) comporte une enveloppe (30) qui définit un cheminement (34) entre la paroi de l'enveloppe (32) et la paroi de coupelle d'appât (20). L'enveloppe (30) comporte également un toit (40) qui recouvre l'espace délimité par la paroi de l'enveloppe (32), lequel toit repose sur le support latéral. Une antichambre est définie, d'un côté par le support latéral,et de l'autre côté par la paroi de l'enveloppe. Le plancher de l'antichambre se trouve dans le prolongement du plancher du cheminement. Une porte d'antichambre, qui est ménagée dans la paroi de l'enveloppe, et qui ouvre sur l'antichambre de façon à y admettre les insectes visés, est située de façon que l'accès en ligne droite à la coupelle d'appât par la porte d'antichambre soit limité par le support latéral. Dans l'antichambre, entre le support latéral et la paroi de l'enveloppe, il y a assez de place pour que l'insecte visé entre dans le poste d'appât en passant par la porte d'antichambre et en évitant le support latéral lors de l'entrée dans le cheminement, et donc lors de l'accès à n'importe quel appât contenu dans la coupelle d'appât. La technique liée à l'invention concerne non seulement le poste d'appât, mais également la façon de contenir un appât sélectionné dans la coupelle d'appât, et enfin la façon de placer le poste d'appât sur une surface sur laquelle rampent des insectes.
