A baking oven provided with an oven chamber which is arranged for receiving a large number of carriers in carrier positions, wherein a transport system is provided which is arranged for stepwise transporting carriers through the oven chamber from a preceding carrier position to a next carrier position, wherein the transport system comprises an ascending path and a descending path, wherein heating means are present for beating air, wherein blow openings are provided via which, in use, heated air is introduced into the oven chamber, as well as suction openings via which cooled air is extracted from the oven chamber. The invention further provides a system provided with such a baking oven in which carriers of different types can be processed.
