An apparatus for cutting baled crop materials particularly of the cylindrical bale type comprises an apparatus in the form of a conventional chain saw in which the chain is modified so that either the slide links or the guide links include an outwardly projecting cutting plate. The cutting plate is shaped to form a cutting edge having a ramp shape commencing at a position intersecting the previous link and extending outwardly at a gradual inclination of the order of 20° to an outermost point and then a trailing edge which extends backwardly toward the main body of the chain. The width of the cutting plate is less than the width of the chain itself in view of the tension in the bale which pulls the bale apart as it is cut.
La présente invention a pour objet une machine servant à couper des produits agricoles en balles, notamment en balles de type cylindrique; la machine en question fait appel à une scie à chaîne conventionnelle dont la chaîne a été modifiée en ce sens que les maillons coulissants de même que les maillons de guidage ont été dotés d'une plaque-couteau dont le bord tranchant est orienté vers l'extérieur. Les plaques-couteaux en question forment un bord d'attaque dont l'inclinaison prend naissance en un point venant en intersection avec le maillon précédent et saillant graduellement vers l'extérieur selon un angle de l'ordre de 20 degrés jusqu'à un point se trouvant le plus à l'extérieur, suivi d'un bord de fuite en prolongement vers l'arrière en direction du corps principal de la chaîne. La largeur de la plaque-couteau est inférieure à la largeur de la chaîne elle-même en raison de la tension qui, présente à l'intérieur de la balle, tend à séparer celle-ci durant l'opération de coupage.
