-8- BALE MOVER CABLE TENSIONER ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A round bale carrier has an elongate bale support on a front end of which bales are loaded. The loaded bales are then pushed toward the rear of the bale support by a pusher, making room to load a new bale. The pusher is also used to unload the carrier by pushing the bales off the rear end of the carrier. The pusher is driven by a cable wrapped around a winch at the front end of the bale support and a pulley at the rear end. It is retracted by a second cable wound on the winch and leading to the pusher. The two cables are connected to a rotor mounted on the bale pusher, with the pusher advancing cable being connected closer to the axis of the rotor than is the pusher retracting cable. The tensioner accommodates the elongation of the pusher advancing cable and maintains the retracting cable under tension.
