- 1 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A machine for forming bales of cut pieces of discarded automobile and like tires comprises a chamber for receiving the tire pieces, and a platen movable downwardly into the chamber for compressing the pieces into a compacted mass. Channels in the floor of the chamber and in the underside of the platen combined with slots in a wall of the chamber and wire guides outside the chamber enable a number of lengths of baling wire to be passed around the compacted mass to form a bale.
