A ball catching tool with an enhanced thumb-protective function. A thumb accommodating part (11) is formed in the shape of a bag which fits the thickness of the thumb and wholly surrounds the thumb. In another mode, a hole through which the thumb passes may be formed on the front side of a part corresponding to the root of the thumb, and a cover to fit around the back of the thumb which projects out of the penetrating hole may be provided.

Une partie (11) de ce dispositif, logeant le pouce et de la forme d'un sac, a la taille (l'épaisseur) d'un pouce et entoure complètement ce dernier. Dans une autre variante, un trou dans lequel s'engage le pouce peut être formé sur le côté avant d'une pièce correspondant à la base du pouce, et un élément de recouvrement entoure l'arrière du pouce qui fait saillie du trou dans lequel il est engagé.
