Abstract of the Invention A ball throwing and catching apparatus has the form of an open framework on a handle, the framework defining an oblong scoop for catching, cradling and thereafter throwing a projectile. The framework of the scoop has the form of an elongated closed loop and includes a rim and projectile guide tracks located along the back of the interior of the scoop. The projectile, which preferably is a hollow ball, has a textured surface and the tracks and a top portion of the front face of the rim where the tracks terminate have an uneven surface which cooperates with the textured surface of the projectile to enable a user of the apparatus to impart a spin to projectiles as they are thrown therefrom.
