A ball valve construction for large diameter ball valves includes a main valve body formed from extruded plastic pipe and having a central through passage (18) with a valve ball (74) mounted centrally therein. An operating stem (30) extends from the ball outwardly of the main body. First and second separate seat retainer rings (88, 89) are positioned on opposite sides of the valve ball. Each retainer rings has an outer surface carrying a seal (120) for engaging the wall of the through passage for preventing fluid flow between the retainer rings and the wall of the through passage. Each retainer ring further defines a spherical seat surface (104) positioned and sized to sealingly engage the valve ball. Adjustable tie rod members (121) join between the retainer rings to cause the seat surfaces to engage the valve ball with a predetermined sealing force.
Un dispositif de vanne à bille pour vannes à bille de grand diamètre comporte un corps de vanne principal obtenu à partir d'un tuyau en plastique extrudé et présentant un passage central traversant (18) au centre duquel est monté une bille (74) de vanne. Une tige de commande (30) s'étend depuis la bille jusqu'à l'extérieur du corps principal. Des première et seconde bagues de retenue de logement séparées (88, 89) sont placées de chaque côté de la bille. Chaque bague de retenue présente une surface externe supportant un joint d'étanchéité (120) venant en contact avec la paroi du passage traversant, et définit une surface de logement sphérique (104) positionnée et dimensionnée de sorte que la bille de vanne s'y engage de manière étanche. Des éléments à tirant ajustables (121) relient les bagues de retenue de sorte que la bille de vanne vienne en contact avec les surfaces de logement avec une force d'étanchéité prédéterminée.
