A ball valve has a ball valve member mounted for floating movement in a valve chamber between an upstream metal seat and a downstream metal seat. Each metal seat fits within a recess and has a body portion of a generally uniform thickness adjacent an opposed shoulder with a lip about its inner circumference for sealing against spherical surface of ball valve member at all times. Body portion acts as a Belleville spring and spaces lip from adjacent shoulder at low fluid pressures. A bearing portion has an arcuate seat spaced from spherical surface at low fluid pressures but contacting spherical surface at high fluid pressures. A flexible connector of a relatively thin uniform thickness extends between bearing portion and body portion. The stem has a Belleville spring exerting a compressive loading against a packing and a thrustbearing is mounted outwardly of the packing between stem shoulder and the outer clamping plate.
