The present invention provides improved balloon catheter apparatuses for use in therapies requiring delivery of uniform light to a treatment area. The improved apparatus comprises a balloon having a defined treatment window where the window is delineated using a reflective material. The apparatus may further comprise a fiber optic cable that terminates in a diffusion tip where the diffusion tip is longer than the treatment window. The present invention further provides improved therapeutic methods that use the improved balloon catheters of the present invention.
La présente invention se rapporte à des dispositifs perfectionnés du type cathéters à ballonnet utilisés dans des thérapies nécessitant un apport de rayonnement lumineux uniforme au niveau d'une zone à traiter. Ledit dispositif perfectionné comporte un ballonnet possédant une fenêtre pour traitement définie qui est délimitée au moyen d'une matière réfléchissante. Ledit appareil peut également comporter un câble optique qui se termine par une pointe de diffusion dont la longueur est supérieure à celle de la fenêtre de traitement. La présente invention se rapporte également à des procédés thérapeutiques qui font appel à l'utilisation des cathéters à ballonnet perfectionnés décrits ci-dessus.
