The invention relates to a balloon catheter comprising a tube-like basic body, at an end-section of which a balloon member has been arranged. The inside of the balloon member is connected, via a lumen in the basic body, with a connecting member at the other end thereof. Via this connecting member and the lumen, liquid or gas under pressure can be supplied to the balloon, in order to expand the latter. At least the end-section is stiff and elastically deformable.
