An inflatable medical instrument (18) for tissue damage in gastric reduction surgery includes a main chamber (20) composed of a biocompatible material capable of being selectively inflated. The medical instrument also includes a longitudinally extending tab member (26) secured to an outer surface of the main chamber, a series of suction holes (30) are formed along the tab member and an electrode (38) is mounted on the tab member. The present invention also provides a method for forming a tissue junction used in defining a gastric pouch including damaging opposed tissue layers, apposing the tissue layers and fastening the tissue layers to allow the tissue layers to heal together.
L'invention concerne un instrument médical gonflable (18) pour tissu endommagé lors dune chirurgie de réduction gastrique, comprenant une chambre principale (20) composée d'un matériau biocompatible capable d'être gonflé sélectivement. L'instrument médical comprend aussi un élément de patte s'étendant longitudinalement (26) et fixé sur une surface extérieure de la chambre principale, une série de trous d'aspiration (30) formés le long de l'élément de patte, et une électrode (38) est montée sur l'élément de patte. La présente invention fournit aussi un procédé pour former une jonction de tissu utilisée dans la définition d'une poche gastrique incluant la détérioration de couches de tissu opposées, apposer des couches de tissu et fixer des couches de tissu pour permettre aux couches de tissu de cicatriser ensemble.
