Abstract of the Disclosure The present invention provides a band filter press having a machine frame with horizontal longitudinal beams and sub-beams located there beneath. The filter cake which is deposited between two endless rotating bands is passed through a press zone having press rolls. At least two sequential press rolls are arranged on the upper side and/or on the lower side of the longitudinal beam. This means that the length of the press zone can be restricted to 1/3 - 1/2 of the total length of the press so that the filter cake remover can be arranged in the central area of the press, preferably on the lower side of the longitudinal beam. This arrangement means that the pre-treatment stage can be defined over the whole length of the press and means that its height can be kept at a minimum.
