An improved band saw is provided which comprises a device for adjusting the exact position of a saw blade on the running surface of the two band wheels. One of the axes of the two band wheels, extending in parallel to the other in the normal position, can be tilted relative to the normal position in a plane common to the two axes, while the band wheel associated to the axis can be simultaneously adjusted along the axial direction.
