Abstract The present invention relates to a band tightening apparatus in a strapping machine provided with respective mechanisms for grasping the front end of the band, securing a band-feeding end, fusing band-joining portions, and cutting the band-feeding end; a reverse rotation touch roller subsidiary to or independent of a pair of reverse rotation rollers for restoring the band and then winding and tightening the band around the article to be strapped; and an eccentric shaft for eccentrically shaft supporting the reverse rotation touch roller and which is pivotably pro- vided by the tension cam of the cam shaft; a shaft case being attached, through the intermediary of a reverse rota- tion spring, to an arm rod which operates in association with a tension cam having one or two actuating surfaces of the cam shaft; a shaft rod, with one end thereof being situated on the outside of the main body thereof and a which has a hole at the eccentric position at the other end thereof, being connected to the shaft case; and a projected shaft formed on the eccentric position at the front end of the eccentric shaft of the reverse rotation touch roller being inserted into the hole of the shaft rod.
