A B S T R A C T An orthopaedic bandage is described which comprises a support carrying a vinyl compound, which compound polymerises when exposed to a water-activated vinyl polymerisation catalyst; characterised in that the vinyl compound is a hydrophilic prepolymer which contains more than one polymerisable vinyl group. Use of a vinyl prepolymer which contains more than one polymerisable vinylic group that a storage stable, readily activatable bandage can be produced which on exposure to a water activated polymerisation catalyst produces a cast of good strength.
