- 16 - "BANDING KNIFE APPARATUS" ABSTRACT The present invention provides a new branding knife apparatus which facilitates the burial of seed and fertilizer in soil during agricultural operations. The banding knife apparatus disclosed has a forwardly disposed knife blade of narrow width with an upwardly disposed transverse fastening device which does not add width to the lower portion of the knife blade. The knife blade can be removed and replaced on the banding knife blade holder while the banding knife blade holder remains fastened to a cultivator shank with seed and fertilizer hoses in place. Most banding knife apparatus of the type having narrow blades do not permit quick changing of worn knife blades. The use of this banding knife apparatus thus speeds and simplifies the replacement of the cutting knife blade while providing a knife blade apparatus with a narrow cutting edge.
