A method of operating within a communication system wherein a bandwidth provider responsible for a given bandwidth provides different amounts of bandwidth to respective partial users. The method comprises the steps of determining a bandwidth availability profile; determining a traffic profile; and transmitting capacity information to a partial user, wherein the capacity information comprises the bandwidth availability profile and the traffic profile. Also described is corresponding apparatus for a communication system. The invention is particularly advantageous in network arrangements including cellular radio communication systems, such as UMTS.

L'invention porte sur un procédé d'exploitation d'un système de télécommunications dans lequel un attributeur de largeurs gestionnaire d'une large de bande donnée attribue différentes quantités de largeur de bande aux différents utilisateurs partiels. Ledit procédé consiste à: déterminer le profil de la largeur de bande disponible, déterminer le profil du trafic, transmettre les informations de capacité à un utilisateur partiel, lesdites informations de capacité comprenant le profil de la largeur de bande disponible et le profil du trafic. L'invention qui porte également sur un appareil correspondant pour systèmes de télécommunications présente un intérêt particulier dans les réseaux y compris les réseaux cellulaires de radiocommunications tels que le SUTM.
